Bob's New Year's Eve Party Venue Details

Bob McCracken is holding a New Year's Eve party for us and it promises to be a huge event. Many of us have been to parties at his Somerton Park home before and they've always been packed. A slight change of plan, though. In view of the large attendance expected, Bob will instead hold his party at the Warradale home of a friend. It has a huge yard, a swimming pool and ample dance room. Leonie's Party Date Changed

Leonie had planned to hold a shared lunch around the swimming pool of her new Netley home on Sunday 18th March. She has now discovered that another function she particularly wants to attend is on that date, so she has brought hers forward to Sunday 11th March. She has gained a reputation for holding a great party in the past and this one will no doubt be a winner.

Joanne's New Christian Single Events To Commence 09/02/07

Joanne will commence her new series of events called "Single Bingle" at her South Plympton home on 9th February 2007 from 7.30 PM until 11 PM. The format will be a viewing of an interesting Christian video (around 40 minutes) followed by spontaneous discussion and then supper. Guests can be any age up to sixty years. Bring a plate of supper and a drink. Bookings can be made through Gareth at this stage.

Susie's Party Deferred

This will be a disappointment for her as well as us as she was very much looking forward to holding the event. Next Semaphore Palais Dance Party

The Semaphore Palais on The Esplanade at Semaphore is a classy venue and the Grand Ballroom is just grand! We've had numerous Singles Dance Parties there and they have been exceptionally well attended. Its definitely a favourite venue with our network. Our next event there is planned for 27th May, 2006. The band, subject to confirmation, is likely to be highly praised duo "Two Hard Basket".

Rex Hotel Dinner/Dance should be great evening

This coming Saturday 11th February we will attend a dinner/dance at the Fabulous Rex Hotel, 172 Richmond Road, Marleston. Popular cabaret band "Good Company" will be playing there from 7.30 PM. They will provide quiet easy listening music during the dinner period followed by some great dance music for the rest of the evening.

The Rex has always been a favourite with our network members. The atmosphere of the room is always friendly, influenced largely by manager Trevor Smith who, as we all know, is quite prepared to entertain the guests himself. The menu is extensive and under his watchful eye food preparation and service run like clockwork. The attitudes and efforts of the staff there have always been exemplary.

While the dance floor is not that large, it is adequate and we are able to move any tables off the wooden surface after dining has finished.

The last time this we held this function was in November. We had ninety in attendance and the majority hailed the night a huge success. If you would like to go, please book with Gareth as early as you can.

People love the Saturday Night house parties. Coming up in the near future we have a BBQ/House Party at Helen's Oaklands Park home on Saturday 18th February. Richard will hold one of his fundraising parties at the end of March with proceeds going to the Adelaide Zoo and other animal charities.

The tickets for the Celtic Music on 12th February are definitely sold out at this stage. That may change as there may be some more tickets available by mid-week if a few people who've got them haven't sold them. Also its inevitable that some people who already have tickets won't be able to go so their tickets can be re-sold for them. Please advise Gareth if you would like to be on a waiting list.

You just can't keep a good (party) man down! Legendary host James will again invite us to a Shared Lunch on Sunday 19th March in the beautiful grounds of his Prospect home. See the program for details.

Also coming up, Shared Lunches at Stella's Plympton home (15/01), Vaike's Bellevue Heights home beside her massive swimming pool (26/01), Pam's Hazelwood Park home(19/02) and Wendy's Athelstone home (05/03). Its a very popular format for a relaxing afternoon of conversation with friends. Each attendee brings a generous plate of lunch to share (not bbq!) plus drinks and a chair. Arrive from 1 PM, lunch at 2 PM.

Hackney Chat Great Meals Menu

The next Drinks and Chat session at the Hackney Hotel will be on Monday 23rd January. They've just completed some partial refurbishment and they want to see us regularly, so they have constructed a special menu for those of us who want to dine. To see the menu Click Here If you wish you can order other meals off the usual a-la-carte menu. Of course, there is no need to order a meal. You may just want to attend for drinks and conversation. Just drop in from 6.30 PM, but if you intend to dine, please let Gareth know if you can.

Celtic Music Cruise along the Port River

The Celtic Music Cruises along the Port River have always been a magic experience. The next one is on Sunday 12th February 2006 from 2.30 PM to 5 PM on the new 'Explorer' cruise boat. If you are interested in attending let Gareth know ASAP. Tickets have sold out in advance on each of these trips. Musicians from the Celtic Music Association will be playing on board. You can attend for the musical atmosphere or just for a pleasant cruise to help support a worthwhile cause.

The cost is $10 ($9 conc.). Money raised will go towards completion of the new P.A. system in the Irish Hall, Carrington St, Adelaide where so many fabulous events take place, including the monthly Irish Bush Dances.

The last trip was on a beautiful afternoon in June this year when the boat had a maximum capacity of 400 people during it's fitting out. It is now licensed for 500 passengers and features a much more extensive fit-out including restaurant, bar and coffee/cake shop. The 38m vessel has 3 levels with the top-level being a sun-deck. It is moored at Port Adelaide near the lighthouse at the end of Port Road.

Please note that tickets booked will definitely need to be paid for well in advance, preferably upon booking. They will not be held for payment on the day. Also, attendees must present their tickets upon boarding. In line with government regulations the operators of the boat will not allow anyone on board without physically presenting a ticket. Please do not leave your ticket at home.
